Digital Dentures are all the rave!! But...here are the hurtles to jump and the hoops to jump through..

Workflows are very good. Those with a scanner are able to do more than without, but the workflows are very similar. There are several articles to view which will go through the process.

The Reference workflow takes the guess work out of making new dentures for a patient who already has dentures. The current dentures become the bite rim in three quick steps.

Wash the inside the current upper and lower.
While dentures are in place scan them for a bite scan.
Remove the dentures and scan the upper, then the lower, by following the steps outlined in the Reference Workflow (video) above.

Note, the lab can scan the dentures for you if preferred and return them cleaned up after the scanning to give back to the patient. One day turnaround.

Once we have the scans, we will run those through our denture software and recreate the patients current bite, produce a set of edentulous models, produce a bite transfer and use that to remount your stone models and set the teeth or procceed with a digital set-up. Otherwise, regardless if traditional or digital, you are going through with a traditional bite rim, trying to recreate the bite, which is already there with the patients current dentures.

Dentsply tooth resins, whether IPN or the Value, shades come in all 16 shades. You will find the resin teeth a bit more translucent than the 3D IPN Portraits, but the resins are continually improving.

The difference between using a resin tooth compaired to the 3D Portraits is flexability. 3D Portraits cannot be altered as a traditional denture tooth, adequate space is needed. Resin teeth on the other hand can be altered during the design phase.

Whether as a full denture(s) or the patient would simply like a copy of their current as a spare, the processes are quite simple and predictable.
